I think I've just about finally updated this blog with all the exciting happenings of my life. There is a piece of prose somewhere that I wanted to upload but I'm not sure where I saved it, so that will happen at a later date.

Last Saturday, the 15th, was my 22nd birthday. I woke up to sunshine, spent the day decorating cakes, and then I went to the beach for a small BBQ with some close friends. It was delicous and fun. After that I went out and got rather drunk, and woke up to a friendly face.
I took photos of some of my presents, including some patisserie goodies, some books, a tailor's dummy and some stamps.

STRAWBERRY LOVE CAKE.

So for my mum's 60th birthday, we organised a surprise party. And what is the point in a party without cake? One of my aunts is allergic to chocolate, and I didn't want to just do a plain sponge, so I made a strawberry sponge cake. I found a recipe online and altered it to my tastes and preferences, and I will one day either post it here, or in my future recipe book (which WILL happen)
I first did a test run with some little buns in my new silicone cases! Re-usable and such pretty colours. Mmm don't they just make your mouth water. I decorated them with cream icing, pink sugar and strawberry hearts (look how dirty my apron has gotten recently!)
Then was time for the cake! I filled the middle with strawberry jam, and cream and strawberries. I then put it in the fridge. Later, I decorated with cream icing, strawberry hearts, icing sugar and pink sugar.
I don't think I've ever been more proud of a cake. It's bloody beautiful, even if i do say so myself..

I saw neapolitan cookies for sale on Etsy, but couldn't find any sort of recipe online, so I thought I'd experiment and try to make my own. They turned out pretty well, but there are a few tweaks I need to make before they're perfect. Next time...

Kayley finally got back from her 5 months in the French Alps, so we decided a trip to Bournemouth was in order to see Charli. We bought some beautiful cakes to take as a little present. It was good timing as well because an event called Block Party was on, which involved paying about £15 and you got entry into loads of bars and clubs. It was wayyyyyy fun, as you can see!

Once upon a time, I had a very good friend called Charli. She had a funny little mongrel who liked to splash in the sea. On the 13th of April they visited me and we walked 20mins to a local beach and had a little splash. Then we nearly got eaten by sheep. The end.

OLI'S BIRTHDAY.

Oli's birthday was on the 9th of April. He was working in the daytime but I waited on the beach for him with some of his other friends. Then we had a LOT of beer and went for a meal. Some of his friends worked there and they made him a special birthday icecream sundae with alcohol and candles in it. We had more beer and then went back to Oli's house. He cracked open the champagne which caused me to pass out on a Wispa bar, and it proceeded to melt to the shape of my face...
The next day, despite hangovers, we went and had a picnic in one of the most beautiful (and steepest) fields ever. We could juuuust see the sea and we sat under a treee. The boys made a beautiful spread of all sorts of yummy food :) it was just perfect until it got a bit cold and I realised I should've brought some warmer clothes with me...
It was a marvellous 24hours.

8th April - Phoebe was enjoying the sunshine (isn't she pretty) and I needed to make cakes for Oli's birthday. His favourite cakes, as far as I'm aware, are plain sponge butterfly cakes, with butter icing. I thought I'd make them more exciting with FOOD COLOURING. I know, pretty exciting.
An unusual thing happened though, and I think it must be because of the food colouring, the cakes turned out looking like nipples. This has never happened before (as I never really use food colouring) and it has only happened since when using food colouring. How very strange.
The blue cakes look absolutely disgusting, but I kind of like it. They are all so bright!

I also made a card with a drawing of the moon on it, because me and Oli have a thing about the moon :)

On the first day of April my best friend Oli was home from uni, and he came round to visit. We went into college with Alex to see our old tutors, and then Oli cameback to mine for tea and cookies.
Now, my big girl cat, Phoebe, is COMPLETELY in love with Oli (and who can blame her). Everytime he comes round she goes all silly and purry and dribbly and flirty. This specific time she was extracute, because oli was standing at my kitchen table, and she stood up on her back legs and put her front legs on his chest and was just purring and purring and dribbling. It was ridiculously cute, but I didn't fetch my camera in time :( here are a few snaps of them being loved up though :) heeeeee!

Today I tapped a couple of letters to two very special boys on my typewriter. I am very nervous about sending one, as I'm not sure of the response it'll get. But everything in it needed to be said sometime or another, otherwise I will explode. The other is just silly and nice.
Now I'm having a cheeky smoke and watching Blue Peter, there is a heavy metal marine biologist on. This juxtaposition feels so wrong.
I trust you all had a fantastic Shrove Tuesday. I ate so many pancakes that I could barely move, what a delicious death that would be.
I'm going to do my best to give up alcohol, and rubbish food for lent. Although I may succomb to an occasional chocolate bar or an odd beer. I will do my best.

So I totally forgot to mention my awesome moon light that I got for Christmas from Mister Key. I finally put it up last week and it makes me super happy every time I see it. I love the moon. I also put up one of my favourite photos that my friend Kate blew up big for me for my birthday last May! Happy nearly new year all you lovelies.

After much stressing out, I decided I should stay in for new year. I've only ever had 2 good new years: one was when I was 15 and the boy I was completely besotted with (and still rather adore) got down on one knee and asked if I'd do him the honour of being his girlfriend. I couldn't sleep that night I was so happy. The other was one where I stayed in and had a bath.

Tonight I have sulked, after thoroughly disappointing my boyfriend by telling him I'm not coming out, eaten yummy noodles, drank lots of champagne, played with my kitten, and now I'm listening to Backstreet Boys. It's all good.
I hate making a big deal out of anything, especially new year. I'm not up for the crowds and the noise and the over-hype. No thank you.

Anyway I hope you have all had a nice evening and start the new year the way you mean to go on.

I've been so busy lately, mentally and physically, that I haven't had time or energy to update day to day, so it's all come out in a big mess now. I hope you followers don't mind too much. I also have to catch up with the millions of blogs that I watch now!
I met up with an old friend yesterday, probably the person who hurt me most in the end. It's a whole messy situation that I don't want to go into. The reason we met up was to talk about the whole situation but it just ended up being a cup of tea with a friend. I slept for 14 hours after that.

Went to see Cosmo Jarvis perform at the Barrel House in Totnes on Sunday night with Oli and the Chris. He's friends with a few of my friends so I got to finally meet him which was nice after hearing so much about him and enjoying his short films and songs. He was very good. We ended up partying at Chris' sister's house until the early hours. It was very cold. I kept falling asleep and waking up with my hat gone, it was unnerving. Then we had a lot of marmite on toast at Chris'. There were 3 in the bed that night and it was comforting. Then Roy joined us. Look at little Roy.
I feel really... what's the opposite of fluent? That's what I feel in this post. But that's how the night made me feel so that's just fine and appropriate.

Especially when things are more complicated when you thought they'd be, and you want to give up. And you hurt someone just by finding a bit of happiness. And even when you dress up in your ballgown and panda hat you still feel sad.

Sometimes it's really, really hard to remember the good things you've got. But it's really important that you do.

Have a little talk with the one who always seems to say the right words, and if you don't have one of those, I'm generally always around to give it a bash.

Last night I went to Totnes Christmas Market with my boyfriend Jack. There were some nice stalls and once the rain disappeared there were lots of people, brass bands playing Christmas songs and all sorts of delightful festive things! It made me get properly excited for Christmas! I even had some mulled wine, which I decided I liked apart from when it goes cold.
Then when I got home I caught the last half an hour of Kirstie's Homemade Christmas Home, which was really good and gave me some nice ideas. One of which was making decorations out of salt dough. It was quite difficult cutting the letters out and they're all different sizes and look a bit retarded, but once they're painted they look really cute. I'm going to thread string through the holes and hang them up over the fireplace.
Many more cute things and ideas to come! I just hope I have time to do them all!

I haven't been updating very often as I've been so busy lately. I've been helping my friend promote this party/club night he's putting on just before Christmas, I'm so excited for it. It's circus themed, so I've been working on my clown costume, of course. It's so cute so far! I need to make some ruffles for it and sew some pom poms on :)
And, today I started my graduate volunteer malarky at college, and it was okay. I didn't sleep well last night so it was difficult to get out of bed! When I got there I just looked through some first years' work, and it was alright, nothing special. But, interesting to see what they have been up to. Afterwards, I thought I'd reward myself for being so brilliant, so I went for a look around some charity shops, and I got some right gems! I am so happy. Look at these beauties:

I'm so excited.

I went into my old college today to see my old tutor, Tony. My mum works in the library there and they often talk about me and what I'm up to, and Tony said I should come in and have a chat to him, so I did.
We discussed the possibility of me being a graduate volunteer or something like that. And I was very up for it and filled in the forms right then and there.
Basically, I'm going to be sitting in on crits and being an extra voice, and helping check through dissertations (I'm a bit of a grammar nazi) and whatnot. Just helping tutors with things. They also want me to show my work as well and talk a bit about what I do/have done. In return, I get something to put on my CV and I get to use the facilities!
It's nice because I know a few people there, and it means I get to be around creative people. As well as someone rather beautiful...

Gosh, I really feel like I'm on a good path right now.

Winds of up to 100mph (160km/h) have hit parts of the UK as a storm moves across Wales and southern England.

The best thing to do while storms are running around causing havoc, is to snuggle under a duvet and eat cakes and ice cream and watch nice films.
This is what I'm planning on doing tomorrow. I have made some pretty cakes for the occasion, sorry for the poor quality photo off my phone! I'll take a better one when my camera has charged!

I feel so good at the moment. Life is picking up a bit.

It's strange because I remember posting about how I felt I didn't have many friends down here, and all my friends are busy doing exciting things and I'm not... and since then I feel like this has all changed a bit.
I've been so busy since Halloween time, seeing friends, doing nice things, thinking up new projects and things to make! And I met up with a friend yesterday who seems to have his head totally screwed on and he is doing really well for himself, and he wants me to do some illustration work for him! I'm so happy and excited to receive the brief and get scribbling!

Also, I'm feeling a really strong urge to look after my friends. I feel strong enough to support those in need, and I just want to spoil them all with cakes and cute things and hugs.

I have quite a few things in the pipeline and I'm really looking forward to doing them all and showing you the results.

Speaking of which, I better start my Christmas factory ASAP! 6 weeks tomorrow!!

SLEEPOVER CLUB.

Here are a few snaps of my room.
I tidied up and made a bed on the floor as Kayley is coming over tonight for a sleepover! We're going to eat cakes and popcorn, and drink tea, and watch soppy films. I am so excited for it. I don't have many good girlfriends so I really appreciate the ones I do have!
Look how cosy my room is :) we're definitely going to be cosy cats!

1. & 2. One of my nicest corners - some of my favourite children's storybooks (including Where The Wild Things Are and Thumbelina), my lovely orange horses (one of which really does need a bit of restoration), and my last birthday card from my best friend - it has a cupcake on it because he knows how much I like cakes :) hehe.

4. The chocolate buns I made for scoffing tonight :)
5. The buns, Big Ted, my Max costume (which keeps scaring me at night, it really just looks like someone standing in my room in the half-darkness) and the cosy bed I made for Kayley.

Today I travelled back in time and went for afternoon tea with my mother. I bought some fabric for some up and coming projects, and then I came home and played with my cats - Phoebe, El Hefe and Kimiko.
I love those kids.
